Connect a compatible AI assistant to ask questions about the ranch information you already keep in The Chute. The assistant can find and summarize saved records, and prepare changes for review.
MCP server addresshttps://www.thechute.app/api/mcpConnection method: Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in
What it can help with
Read saved ranch records
Find cattle by name, ear tag, or status, and see herd totals.
Review an animal’s health, breeding, and expense history.
See upcoming calvings, reminders, and health follow-ups.
Search health events, breeding records, and ranch expenses.
Check medication stock, reorder levels, and saved label intervals.
Questions to try
“Which cows are expected to calve in the next month?”
“What follow-ups are overdue, and which animal are they for?”
“Show me the health and breeding history for tag 214.”
Sign-in and ranch access
When you connect, your assistant opens The Chute’s OAuth sign-in and consent flow. Sign in with your own account and review the app requesting access. Each request is limited to ranches and records your account is authorized to use, including your membership role and the ranch’s assistant access settings.
Add the server address in an MCP-compatible assistant.
Choose Connect or Sign in when the assistant prompts you, then sign in to The Chute.
Review the requesting assistant and approve access. You can revoke connected apps in The Chute settings.
Read-only tools and reviewed changes
Reading tools are read-only. They retrieve saved records and do not change your ranch data.
Some tools can prepare a change as a draft. A draft is not applied to ranch records.
Prepare cattle, health, breeding, and expense changes for review.
Prepare new reminders or changes to existing reminders.
Prepare an animal photo for an existing or new animal.
Before a change is saved, the ranch owner must review the exact preview and confirm it. Confirmed actions and drafts are recorded for audit. Access to draft and confirmation tools also depends on the ranch’s settings.
Connect an assistant
Open your assistant’s MCP or custom connection settings. The available setup steps depend on that assistant.
Add https://www.thechute.app/api/mcp as the server address and select Streamable HTTP if asked for a connection type.
Complete the OAuth sign-in and consent flow in the browser window. Return to the assistant and start asking about your ranch records.
